A western suburb of Houston, Katy boasts an historic downtown, parks and one of the largest malls in Texas. It also has plenty of golf. The city of just over 26,000 people has a downtown with several antique shops. Katy Mills, with 175 stores is one of the largest malls in the state. And Katy also offers plenty of restaurants, movie theaters and a couple of craft breweries. As for the golf, locals and visitors alike can get tee times at courses like The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch, a very enjoyable 18-hole layout designed by Carlton Gipson. Meadowbrook Farms, a Greg Norman design, is another good public option in Katy. Private clubs in Katy include Falcon Point, Willow Fork and 27-hole Pine Forest Country Club.
